Its been a while...

Its been a busy few months, and although the blog has been slightly neglected, there has been a lot of work going on!

I have been printing a lot and I am really getting into cutting and printing lino. My latest lino work is a series of letters, each are a three colour reduction block print. 

I have also been drawing dogs. I love dogs!

I have also discovered Instagram which is a great little app for sharing photos, and it has served as a mini blog for the past few months. Another great app is Diptic which created the lovely photo collage layout I have used for the images above.

This weekend I did a bit of painting...

Mine is the white lettering on the shop awning...

Due to heavy  downpours on sunday I couldn't finish completely so I will be back then in the week to add a bit of colour, and maybe some barber related imagery!

I had a lovely surprise this week as I finally won a Crown and Glory giveaway! I entered via their Facebook page, which is definitely worth a follow, and a lovely bunch of goodies were delivered this week! In with my winnings was this lovely necklace and earring set by flonightingale, really pretty!

Lino Printing on t-shirts...

A little experiment, I would like to see if I can print onto fabric with small lino blocks and oil based inks.

More Resin Experiments!

After my first resin experiments I visited Tiranti's Sculpture Supplies on Warren Street (London). Here I picked up some silicone to make moulds with, and some more clear resin. I had found that the cheaper craft resin I was using initially goes cloudy when set in a silicone mould, weird. This new resin does not do this, however I am still not getting a totally smooth effect on the outside of the wee gems. Also I think i have had problems due to adding too much catalyst to the resin, which is making strange patterns on the surface. I am next going to try some polypropylene moulds which i found online, these promise to have good results, we shall see!! 

RESIN SUCCESS!!!!!

After playing around with some Gedeo craft resin I though my experiment had failing as the resin fused to the make-shift mould. But a few days later and i was playing around with it and a block of resin dropped out! I then managed to pop out all the other blocks too (using brute force and ignorance). The blocks are quite bubbly and have a strange cloudy pattern through them, which i think comes from using vegetable oil as mould release.

This illustration was published in the November 10th edition of Edinburgh Uni's newspaper The Student. I am really happy to be working with the newspaper and hope to do some more work for them soon!
